Ergonomics and Anthropometry

The first workdesk is very messy and very hard to work with.It helps to save a lot of space and also reduces the efficiency of the person working and do not need much time to find things on the workdesk as it is very messy.

The Second workdesk is very neat. You can work very easily with ease and is very efficient. You do not need much time to find things on the workdesk as it is very neat and tidy.I think it would make work faster and quicker, better than ever.

Some of the considerations are:

-efficiency

-save space

-save time for other things

-neat and tidy

-comfort

These considerations are important so as to make the work the person is doing faster.better and quicker so that the work would be a very well done.

Work Desk

The FOUR Obseravations

From this picture, you can see this elderly man planting the plants maybe watering. This could be one of the leisure activities of the elderly. What do you normally see your neighbors doing?Watering the plants right or maybe just checking the health of the plant as it see it grow and develop.

Elderly are the same as the plants they need people to help them.

What can you see this elderly man doing?

WAITING AT THE BUS STOP OF COURSE!!!!

But is he with anyone else(like with family and friends)?

NO.He might be going shopping or somewhere els.But he is going alone. Why didn't he go out with anyone. From my most observations and pictures.Elderly hardly hangout with friends. They are always alone and you hardly see them with someone else.

Why don't they hang out with friends?

This problem goes the same with my grandmother.I hardly hear her using the phone taking with her friends or inviting them to our house. Is it really so inconvient or was it other
problems?

What about this man?
Is he out with friends? No.He is cycling himself.

The two pictures above are perfect examples

This elderly is taking a lot of bags(probably groceries).I guess she is trying to buy some groceries and provide her family with the best food and nutrients so that they can go to work energetically. Maybe that's what she love to do,providing meals for her family as they eat it happily as a family

This photo was taken in the morning, where an elderly is playing with her grand-daughter.They love to spend time playing or spending their time with their family. They are scared of loneliness and only happy when people are out there spending their time with the elderly. This is what i observe from my grandmother as well.I often see her cry when she was alone in a room.

She would always call out for her lost sister in her dreams.Maybe kinship is most importarnt to them.

Understanding the Elderly Challenge

Q1.Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.

The four key recommendations are HOUSING,ACCESSIBILITY,CARING,OPPORTUNITIES.Their main objective is to target the elderly group .
HOUSING-building more elderly friendly houses to lessen their difficulties.
ACCESSIBILITY-more places that are accessible to the elderly for them to carry out their daily activities like cycling, jogging.
CARING-More services and caregivers to actually help them to overcome their difficulties either physically or mentally.
OPPORTUNITIES-Providing opportunities for the elderly to socialize for example hanging out with friends and spending the weekends with their family

Q2.State ONE way that the CAI report is recommending to make our public housing more elderly-friendly

They are recommending to the market players or partners to offer a everse mortgage schemes just for the elderly HDB flat for them to lessee at commercial terms,so as to provide another option for seniors to get some income from their homes to meet their expenditure in old age, without having to move out of their

HDB flats

Q3State TWO ways on how we can ensure that the quality of elderly care here in Singapore is affordable

ONE:MOH should review the ElderShield scheme, with the aim to improve the coverage for elderly Singaporeans who require long term care.

TWO:MOH should review the Medisave policy to allow Medisave withdrawals for the treatment of some common chronic diseases, particularly those commonly affecting the seniors

Q4.After reading the CAI report, what do you are the THREE things that you can do, as an SST student, to help overcome these elderly challenges

I can encourage people to be caregivers,so as to help the elderly facing their elderly challenge

I can create a video about the elderly challenge to motivate both the elderly and people

I can encourage people to carry out their lives freely by spending their time out with friends or families instead of staying at home watching television
